Comparative European study: „Professional support for violent young people“

Duration: January 2006 – December 2007
Funding: European Commission (Daphne II program)

Abstract:

The project focused on analysis and comparison of ambulant, state-regulated forms of support for violent young people and their families in five European countries (Germany, Switzerland, France, Poland and Sweden). In addition to the structure analysis of the different national systems (via analysis of documents and literature), focus groups with experts (of youth welfare services/youth help/streetwork, kindergarten, school, youth welfare office, counseling services, police, justice…) were conducted as well as interviews with violent young people and their attachment figures in each participating country. The national project results were compared on international level and thus, “best practice quality criteria” for professional support for violent young people were extracted.
